Ranakar Ronudine was a member of the Guardians of the Universe who at one time had joined with Superman to defeat a being known as the Weapons Master, who at the time had stolen a Green-Lantern Ring and a Power Battery and was using the link to the Central Power Core on Oa to take control of several Green-Lanterns. Ranakar chose to pursue this mission for failing to fulfill his duty to oversee the alterations in and wellbeing of the Main Green Lantern Battery in favor of his hobby of composing intricate poetry.
